To get votes, spread the word that you will be competing and get people to come and vote on your “Fright Space”, promotional considerations might include:

  • All entries must select an accredited program that the money will be donated to.
  • All applicants must have a designated teacher or parent that oversees the setup, event and breakdown.
  • No physical contact with the spectators of any kind is allowed.
  • Minimum age requirement: sixth grade.
  • Number of characters allowed per space will be subject to assigned space size.
  • Safety: We don't expect you to know all the ins and outs of haunt safety, but a concept that puts characters or spectators in any actual danger is unacceptable.
  • Props and decorations must be fire retardant or be sprayed with fire retardant spray prior to set. That includes (all common combustibles) example: sheets, clothing, papers, and wood products.
  • No smoke, fire, weapons or sharp objects are allowed.
  • No fog machines or dry ice is permitted.
  • No plastic wall coverings.
  • No two prong extension cords (surge protectors or heavy duty three prong extension cord will temporarily be allowed.)

  • Sound Levels: Need to be cautious and considerate of neighbor spaces. During the rehearsal, you may be required to lower your volumes.
  • Do not display your school or designated program within the space.
  • Lighting: All spot and fog lights must have a safety guard over the bulb.
  • Setup Time: Assume that your space will need to be constructed, decorated, wired and tested in less than 10 hours.
  • Community Service: Participants will be able to earn community service hours for participating in the event. To obtain the hours, please see your school's guidance counselor.
  • If your team plans to have character shifts during the event, please have them discreetly change out at approximately 8:30pm through the Emergency Exit, on the east side of the building.
